The Clippers, on the other hand, didn’t have a single point in the paint in the same period. And despite only 25 minutes on the floor, the Clippers seemed to make the most of his time with the starting unit. After the game, J.J. Redick had commented on the telecast that Johnson provides much needed spacing that helps the offensive engine of this team run at its best. Considering both his ability to finish at the rim and his ability to hit the three, it’s a notion that is easy to agree with. The defensive end may be a different story though, and guarding Danilo Gallinari certainly provided difficulties for the Syracuse alum. If the better defensive options continue to show inconsistency or lack of versatility, however, it may not matter. A hot night from Jamal Crawford may very well be concealing what the switch means for the second unit. If the need is to have the best players on the floor and Johnson helps make the starting unit better than the other options, though, it’s hard to make a case that he isn’t one of the best players for this team at this given time. – Brandon Tomyoy
